Montana Ore Purchasing fined for contempt by Montana Supreme Court
In Helena this morning the Montana Ore Purchasing company and its officers were found guilty of contempt for disobeying a district court injunction against a lease on the Barns mine in Butte. Arthur P. Heinze was fined 210 dollars, company officers 500 dollars, and all ordered jailed until fines are paid. Heinze quickly settled his. The ruling says the lease existed to evade court process and that the leasing was not in good faith. The court released some parties from verdicts and ordered confinement in Lewis and Clark county jail for the remaining officers. The decision followed testimony including involvement from Maury and Warfield, with Judge Prantley delivering the judgment.
