Man in Lodging House Shoots Himself Twice
A man named Lewis, a carpenter by trade, attempted suicide in a lodging house at Broad Street and Montana, twice firing at himself with a Bulldog revolver. He survived the first impact, then the second bullet pierced the right temple and exited the opposite skull. He remains hospitalized at St. Paul’s, with doctors planning to trephine if he survives the night. Police noted money and bank deposits in his possession, plus wages with Northern Pacific. Contemporary reports say he is estranged from his wife and had recently lived in the Brooks lodging house.
