A Whitehall man attempted to steal a ride last Tuesday. The brakeman ordered him off as the train sped on. The man refused to jump and the brakeman fired, the bullet striking his hand. The train stopped, the man was put ashore, and later caused the brakeman’s arrest. at trial the brakeman was acquitted. Shovel then went to Butte, arriving yesterday.
