Thousands enjoyed Columbia Gardens yesterday with green grass and shade. A power plant hookup lit the area as the pavilion drew crowds for a large orchestra and dance. Boston & Montana played at the entrance while Join Larsen, a power company employee, lost about $200 on his way home.

Feast of Passover Observed at St Patrick’s Church
Impressive ceremonies marked the Feast of the Passover at St Patrick’s Catholic Church. Masses were held from 5 to 11 with high mass at 11, celebrated by Father Labaer, deacon Father English, sub deacon Father Harrington, and Master of ceremonies Father Callahan. Choir of 35 boys in colored cassocks joined the solemn service as lights illuminated the altar and Father Callahan delivered the sermon.

Judge Rules Against Claims for Extra Police Fees
Judge Linessy in department No 1 upheld the county board by ruling Lavell and Sullivan not entitled to extra fees beyond salaries. The board previously allowed the claims, an appeal followed. Prof King Chosen as Chemistry Chair by Trustees
The State School of Mines board elected W G King to the chair of chemistry and metallurgy after three ballots for geology failed to reach a decision. King, 46, a Western Reserve and Cooper Institute graduate, has served as assistant chemist for the Ohio food and drug commission and taught chemistry in Cleveland and Deer Lodge. Only three of eight geology candidates met qualifications, with the next vote postponed after two vetoes for P Rowe and one for each of the others.
