The Anaconda school board meets in regular session to discuss financing warrants and the upcoming term starting September 4. They plan to call a special election for selling 17000 refunding bonds at about five percent after a prior bid at four percent failed. The current old bonds pay ten percent interest.
Schils hit three home runs driving in four of Anaconda’s ten runs as Butte was defeated 10 to 0. O'Brien added a solo shot, Beville and Carter split pitchers' duties with four strikeouts each, attendance 400. Callahan released to join Butte, Chukson named winbire. Tabor released as Anaconda filled gaps.
The reception room at the Anaconda Catholic club house is being repapered and beautified for member comfort. Members are preparing extensive partitions for a card party to be held next Tuesday evening, with enthusiasm evident among attendees.
Over baseball all summer are now beginning to kick and toss the football upon the club grounds. There is a strong likelihood of a good football team being organized under the club’s auspices. Several first class local players have expressed desire to play with the club team if one is organized, and the prospect is more than probable.
The Inter Mountain in Anaconda reports a park contest among young women with votes tallied by coupons. Julia Turner leads with Bertha Vetters Jennie Lingo Alice Montross and Pal in close pursuit. Contest closes August 10. patrons can submit coupons at the newspaper office.
The feast day of St Ann was observed yesterday at the hospital with solemn high mass at 9 o clock. St Peter's church choir presented a musical programme including Millard Kyrie in B flat and Millard Gloria.
Local briefs note a single arrest last night. Sheriff G W Hubbard of Yellowstone County was in the city yesterday. Various residents are mentioned including Mrs David Moveer and family returning from the coast and the ill infant of Mr and Mrs Chas McLeod. A round trip Sunday rate from Butte to Anaconda is announced from June 2.
