Democracy opposed to silver in 1900 Newark editorial
In the Newark Journal July 21 1900 an unsigned editorial argues that free silver cannot pass a future Congress. It contends imperialism dominates politics, that a free coinage bill has never secured solid Democratic support, and that Kansas City convention votes show opposition among Democrats. It concludes lawmakers will heed constituents and oppose silver, regardless of Bryan’s stance.
