Democratic split over free coinage and silver wing unity
The Inter Mountain accuses the Democratic party, led by Bryan, of avoiding the 16 to 1 free coinage issue in 1900 while pursuing harmony between gold and silver wings. It criticizes silver papers for personal attacks on leaders like George W. Keeney and mocks rivals like the Anaconda Standard and Butte Miner as they clash over party direction and policy.

Strife Over Silver, Bryan, and Democratic Split In 1900
The Anaconda Standard criticizes the Inter Mountain for opposing silver coinage and notes a split in the Democratic party between gold and silver wings led by Altgeld and Bryan. It reports on Chicago faction struggles, Keeney’s 1896 silver clubs, and the push to recruit volunteers for the Philippines amid party tension.

Well known mining broker in trouble in Butte Montana
The well known mining broker W H Nichols of 1 West Broadway Butte Montana faces trouble over a dash with the Butte Bingham Copper Mining company of Bingham Utah. He sold about 600000 shares at 1 cent each to investors including two ladies who invested 200 dollars and later sold their stock to Nichols for 2509 dollars netting 2200 dollars. Nichols warns the next block will not be sold for less than 30 to 50 cents and possibly a dollar by year end. The last mine assay showed gold 1.2 dollars per ton silver 1 ounce copper % and lead 4% to 14% copper and lead values. Nichols advises waiting 30 or 60 days for stock to reach 50 cents per share before buying.
