Terrible Near-Disaster at Tien Tsin Attack

A Tien Tsin dispatch from Che Foo dated July 15 via Shanghai details the July 13 assault on the native city. Allied forces under Dorward and Fukushina faced fierce Chinese fire, with Col. Liscum mortally wounded and 91 Allied troops plus five officers lost out of 426. The combined effort by Japanese, French, American, British forces breached the wall by dawn the next day, entering the city, while casualties mounted and a controversial burning of the town sparked debate.

Russians rout Chinese on Amur river right bank

A Montreal sourced cable says the Chinese Empire Reform Association of Canada is growing and plans a petition to Britain Germany the United States and Japan.
