Entered Plea of Guilty in Election Registration Case
Albert Stone pleaded guilty in Judge Clancy's court to registering illegally in the November election and was sentenced to thirty days in county jail. Stone, first arrested, testified against William Kemp and Nagle, other members of the illegal registration group, while prosecutors sought further charges. The judge condemned political corruption but noted Stone’s full cooperation and praised his candor as a reason for a lenient sentence. In other matters, Judge Trudge Clancy set a filing deadline for an info against John McDonald for grand larceny and discussed dismissals in cases against Llewellyn Hatch, Ike Cohen, and Harry Evans connected to a cow theft near Silver Bow and related alibis and witness statements. The case hinged on Evans’s statements and the lack of independent corroboration against Cohen.
