An attempted robbery at 1038 East Park Street saloon ended with a gunfight. George York and companions defended the bar. robbers retreated after York fired, injuring none but a robber possibly hit. York kept $150 cash in the till plus jewelry. assailants wore dark clothes and derby hats.
A 5 pm collision of street cars at the Main and Park corner caused a crowd and minor damage. Motorman Harry Paxson, brake between the Centerville and Columbia Gardens cars, emerged uninjured as glass shattered the vestibules but no one was harmed.
From pneumonia, A. C. Bertram, a plumber, died after a spree at Mays plumbing shop. Coroner Brown and a jury heard that autopsy showed lung congestion due to pneumonia, not injuries. Dr. P. J. Sheeran testified no violence found. verdict aligned with his findings.
In Judge Clancy's court yesterday David Willard pleaded not guilty to a shooting at the Boulevard house. After the plea the defense asked for a postponement to a later date, and the judge, with a grim smile, remarked that there was plenty of time to hang him and declined to set the case for trial at once.

Madame De Verien, a palmist and medium staying at Hoffman house on East Park street, led police to jewels stolen two years ago from the Conklin mansion on Fifth avenue New York. In seven hours after entering trance she traced intruders to their hiding place and jewels were recovered, robbers jailed. Sam Landry files a bankruptcy petition in U S court. Debts include a $2,500 judgment plus $17.50 interest from C H Williams, dated November 23, 1899, in the district court at Deer Lodge county.
