Victor in Ruins as Wind, Fire Devastates City

A south wind fanned a massive blaze in Victor, destroying businesses worth an estimated 2.5 million dollars. The fire ripped through the heart of the town, destroying banks, the post office, hotels, ore bins, and depots while dynamite blasts for defense proved futile. Rescue teams from Cripple Creek arrived too late to save many structures, though the residential area suffered less. The conflagration ended by evening with the scale of loss, including miners, merchants, and local firms, continuing to rise in figures and names of those affected.
