Labor Party of Montana Formed After Bitter Convention
The Montana labor party wrapped a tense session by naming Helena the site for its state convention on September 19. Dan McDonald led as temporary chair as John Wyman was chosen secretary, with a full slate of central committeemen and a strong stance against alliances with capitalists. The party endorsed reforms including an eight hour day, cash wages, and measures to curb trusts, while opposing Oriental labor and pushing municipal reform.

Bonds Issued For State School of Mines Project
The State School of Mines will issue 120000 in bonds to be taken up by the state treasurer. Idle money from the school sinking fund will back the issue. Bonds, signed by trustees, were brought by Secretary of State Hogan and approved by the trustees last night. The bonds, authorized years ago, gain now from rising land values and will fund the school building. Citizens who previously lent money with warrants will have those warrants cashed. Trustees approve the faculty’s course of study.
