Tragic Chicago Suicide Tied to Wrecked Lives
Minnie M. Wray, a young actress traveling under the name Miss L Gray, killed herself in a Palmer House hotel room in Chicago. A torn note addressed to Leona Graves and letters to A N Ohler in Moline reveal she believed she had wrecked too many lives. The scene included diamonds, a single inset stone, and a trunk ready for shipment. Ohler sought to intervene but could not reach her. Her death notes imply a final farewell to relatives and a request to manage hotel funds, with a background linking to Leesville Indiana and Lincoln Nebraska. The brother, George Wray, traced her to Louisville and learned of the tragedy only after her death.
