Manila April 28 reports say Col Manuel Arguelza and Lieut Joseph Bernal entered General MacArthur lines under a flag of truce to meet General Otis and request cessation of hostilities to summon a Pilipino congress. Otis rejected recognizing the Filipino government and promised another conference tomorrow.

Newtown, Mo, Apel reports a deadly tornado event with twenty people killed and between thirty and forty injured. The dead include Jedford and his wife with five children, RS. 1, Eva and Pwo caught WM Haye and six children. Destructive eastern town storm leaves dozens homeless

The eastern portion of the town was destroyed as the storm swept through. Homes were lifted from foundations and crushed, with substantial buildings wrecked. About fifty people are homeless and relief efforts are underway for the injured, while remaining houses were opened to those without shelter.
