Copper Market Rebound Fuels Butte Mining Hopes
Letters from across the country inquire about new copper properties in Montana. Industry experts note limited Butte copper zones, but rising prices make many deposits profitable. Major mines like Diamond, Bell, High Ore, Leonard, West Colusa, and Pennsylvania show strong depth and potential. Experts foresee copper ore underlying iron ore bodies and anticipate 25 years of smelter activity at Anaconda, Butte, and Great Falls.

Copper market shows improved demand and firm prices
The Copper market remains in strong demand with improved values. Prompt delivery copper is scarce, with June to August quotes at 18d, and Calumet & Hecla reporting orders for several million pounds. Electrolytic copper stays at 1d for cakes and ingots and 16 2/3c for cathodes, while casting copper hovers around 16 1/2 to 17 1/0. International bids are rising but not yet enough to transact. The London market opened at 72 15s spot, closing 72 12s 1d, with a heavy discount versus spot suggesting liquidity shifts.
