Chicago April 4 Harrison reelected mayor Carter the Republican candidate got about 48 votes to 105,304 for Harrison as the Democrats claim a working majority in the new council. Ward returns show Republicans gaining in several districts, with Harrison’s support rising due to opposition to long term street franchise extensions and machine politics. The suburb of Austin joined the city, boosting Chicago population. Republicans gain five seats in the council, totaling 28 Republicans to 40 Democrats.
Dr W Gilman Thompson of the University of New York cites cod liver oil as the best fat to prevent marasmus scrofula rickets in children. Scott's Emulsion combines cod liver oil with hypophosphites to aid blood, flesh, bones and teeth for $1.00 at the druggists. Scott & Bowne chemists New York advertise. Harrison election result already sealed the campaign.
New York April 5 Miss Jane Morgan a slater of Midy Morgan, painter, is dead at her Livingston home on Blazen Island from diphtheria. Midy Morgan died in 1892 aged sixty four. The two sisters designed and built an extraordinary fireproof house in Livingston valued at $20,000, with iron beams and marble floors. The dwelling stood in trees with barred ground floor windows and a hidden upper access via ladder until Midy’s death when a staircase was added.

In Detroit Michigan April a man attempted to murder his infant in the arms of his wife by firing two bullets. He shot himself dead after the attempt. The wife was wounded in the back and the baby untouched by the bullet due to a rib deflection. Mrs Miller is expected to recover.
