Fairfax Flier Survives Thunderjet Crash Near Hamilton
Second Lt. Elmore J. Adkins 23 of Fairfax walked away uninjured from an F-84 Thunderjet crash near Hamilton Field after a forced belly landing in a salt marsh. He said a flame out at 800 feet forced the landing. Hamilton Field firefighters prevented a fire and commended his piloting. Adkins is married to Valine and lives with his family at 18 Wood Lane Fairfax.

Hearing Opens on Reber Plan for San Francisco Bay
A state assembly interim committee began study of the Reber plan to alter San Francisco Bay shorelines. Creator John C. Reber consultant engineer John Savage of Denver and Chairman Richard J. Dolwig met during the conference. The project, estimated at 250000 dollars, would build dykes and fills to create fresh water lakes at bay ends and generate thousands of acres of waterfront industrial land.

About 8500 more residents registered for the June primary in Marin County than in 1948, bringing total to 30,235. Democrats total 19,276. Republicans 17,866. Lang Realty plans a 260 by 80 foot two story Rainbow Shopping Center with 32 000 sq ft of retail space at Red Hill and Sir Francis Drake boulevard. Harold O Simpson Dies of Heart Attack at San Quentin
Harold O. Simpson, 66, chief engineer at San Quentin Prison, died after a heart attack suffered on arriving at his office. He began state service in 1919, moved to San Quentin in 1924, and became chief engineer on October 8, 1939. He leaves a widow, Ann, and was a member of the San Rafael Lodge of Elks No 1108.

Building Permits Rise in Southern Marin. Sausalito Projects Planned
Southern Marin shows April building increases over 1949 with Sausalito adding four new homes valued at 94 000 compared to five low cost homes at 36 750 last year. Mill Valley permits total 94 546 up from 35 299. new homes total 81 500 for eight houses versus one home at 9 500 previously. The two largest homes are to be built by R S Goldsmith of Mill Valley at 23 000 and by Dr Thomas Wiper at 45 000 in Sausalito.

May Day Rain Dampens Marin Weekend Visitor Counts
Rain on May Day brought nearly two tenths of an inch to Marin County raising year to date totals over 32 inches. Weekend crowds slipped at recreation spots with 1100 at Samuel P Taylor, 2100 at Muir Woods, and a total 24,600 in the valley, while Mt.
