Two San Mateo bus operators filed with the Public Utilities Commission to launch a Marin county route linking San Rafael San Anselmo Fairfax and Manor. The plan calls for 15 minute service from 6 am to 7 pm and half hourly after, using 27 to 32 passenger buses, with stop every block and fares of 15 cents or eight rides for $1. The venture, San Rafael San Anselmo Fairfax Transit, would acquire San Rafael City Bus Lines and operate to Santa Venetia and Sun Valley. Opponents will be heard at a PUC public hearing.
San Francisco supervisor Marvin E. Lewis will address the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce on Rapid Transit for the Bay area at the Traveler's Inn noon Wednesday.

One fireman remained on duty today. inspectors assess damage after a warehouse holding 27 new cars and building materials was destroyed. Debris cleared to allow immediate rebuilding. District Attorney Albert E. Bagshaw denied a San Francisco paper’s report that he would seek the resignation of Ellis Dufficy, chief criminal deputy since 1948. He declined comment beyond saying changes may occur and called the article rumor. Dufficy, contacted, said he would discuss the matter with Bagshaw personally.
