The San Anselmo council passed a curfew making it a misdemeanor for parents to allow any child under 18 to loiter after 1 p.m. The ordinance repeals a 9 p.m. limit, carries a $500 fine or six months in county jail for aiding infractions, and drew only one dissenting vote.
Ray Overdick, city clerk since 1942, retires amid praise from Mayor Car Mel Booth. He plans to work as public accountant in San Francisco and San Anselmo. Anne Grant will likely become chief comptroller and work with James Scoggins until the next regular election in April 1952.

Janet Bernhardy 47 a San Anselmo resident for 12 years died in her Rosemont avenue home last night of un determined burns. Fire Chief Marcucci said the fire caused only smoke damage and a burned bedroom floor no motive or cause was found. Bernhardy a Boy Scout leader was alone in the house with her husband away at the time. Funeral plans are pending.
In Moscow U S Ambassador Kirk met with Andrei Gromyko as U S officials gauge Moscow's Korean cease-fire proposal. Reports from Moscow cite pessimistic diplomat remarks about Kirk's forthcoming Washington briefing and question who are the belligerents in the plan.
President Galo Plaza of Ecuador and a party of officials will arrive in San Francisco late tonight for a two day visit.
San Rafael school officials will scale back a planned junior high project on the Woodland site after state finance requirements. Architect Donald B. Kirby outlined revised square footage limits tied to local housing and enrollment, with alternate plans including a multi purpose room and separate boys and girls facilities. Contracts are to be set in September pending October house counts and enrollment figures.
Marin Conservation League plans a $10,000 fund drive to preserve a grove of Bishop Pines at Tomales Bay as a Willis Linn Jepson memorial. The effort partners with county and state funds to create a Tomales Bay state park site with local subscriptions supporting the memorial fund.
San Anselmo officials ruled charity events by Veterans of Foreign Wars unit Ross Valley Post No. 6744 will be exempt from a 100 dollar day license fee for carnival activities at the August 25 fiesta.
