Woman Dies After Car Hits Pedestrian on Marin Highway
Marin county raises holiday death toll with the death of June Adele Sutton 32 of San Francisco after stepping from a car to seek a gas station on Highway 101. Driver Dwight Fergu son McCormack 833 30th Avenue San Francisco not held. Fergu son McCormack said he swerved to miss the woman as she darted into the road. Sutton identification and occupation listed as a clerk for Piedmont Suppliers. Traveling companion described as a retired Los Angeles Herald Express accountant. Two 17-year-olds from Mill Valley were to report to the county probation officer.

Marzetta Home Wins County Yule Contest
The John F. F. Marzettas at 1952 Fifth Avenue San Rafael won the county Christmas decoration contest co sponsored by the Independent Journal and Marin Junior Chamber of Commerce. They received $50 from judges Robert Rosenberg Wishard Brown Ed Wood Robert Lindskog Pete Ferrarese John Maelrath. Second prize went to Pete Anderson and third to Stephen Kaufmann. Runners up included Mr and Mrs Sousa and others across San Anselmo San Rafael Larkspur Greenbrae and related addresses.

Robbed Man Left Wandering Nude Along Highway
Herbert De Groff a 38 year old Gray Line manager from San Francisco reported he was slugged robbed and his car taken during the night. He was found near Corte Madera Wye in only a shirt with head abrasions and missing $150 and a 1948 Chevrolet. Deputies issued an all points bulletin for the car and continued investigating a Rancho Rafael robbery worth $1500.

Sausalito Hotel Unit Is Ruined By Fire
A fire of undetermined origin destroyed Cottage C at Alta Mira Hotel in Sausalito. Discovered at 8.25 p m, it started in Apt C 4 with no apparent cause. Dr J E Atkins and Arthur Green were away. Mrs H Jennings sustained injuries from water and smoke. Fire department arrived in about three minutes and extinguished the main blaze in under 10 minutes. loss estimated in the thousands.

Christmas Tree Climb Fatal for Father of Four
John Manuel Pereira 47 died from back and stomach injuries after a 30 foot fall while trimming a Christmas tree at McNear's Point. A native of Portugal, he leaves wife Evelyn and four children aged 6 months to 6 years. Funeral at Keaton's mortuary in San Rafael with mass at St. Raphael's church.
