Hamilton blood drive tops 1100 donors in Korea relief effort

At Hamilton Air Force Base a mass blood donation drive collected over 1,100 pints to aid Korea wounded. Brig. Gen. Morgan led by example, with volunteers from all base units joining as RAF Flight Lt Peter Scott praised the act. Wives volunteers organized a support chapter to help hospital staff manage supplies.

Yale Decoration Winners Told in Marin Contest

Winners announced in the Christmas decorations contest sponsored by the Marin junior chamber of commerce and the Independent Journal. First prize of 50 dollars awarded to Arthur Hall Sr., Strawberry Point, for a front and roof leadlight display of Hark the Herald Angels Sing with 54 small angels and a large one, plus street music. Second prize to John and Helen Marzetta of San Rafael for Santa Claus stairway cutouts, candy canes, and a 1952 Fifth Avenue address. Third prize to Edward Muszynski, Strawberry Point, for the Strawberry Special train display. Fourth prize to Frank Sousa, San Anselmo, for Santa, Rudolph, and North Pole flag display.

Airman Shot and Dumped on Larkspur Road Near San Quentin

Sgt. Alan L. Reed 20 of Hamilton Field was found shot twice in the back of the head in a parked late-model Chevrolet along Marina Vista avenue in the Larkspur hills. An autopsy confirmed two bullet wounds and a third through the auto glass. Police, Hamilton Field and county investigators pursue the missing gun and motive likely robbery of Christmas funds.
