Mill Valley school trustees voted to hold a special election March 5 1952 to raise the district tax. They propose replacing the current 1.26 rate with 1.60 per 100 assessed valuation and warned the rate could drop automatically if not renewed.
Improvements in seven YMCA clubs in MIN Valley were approved before extending activities, following a Park school meeting. School officials Miss Batty Grimm Art Wagner Stephen Pare ed P Rodeck and K E Carmine discussed junior high level clubs and an elementary after school recreation program. Pryor who ran city summer recreation will join Olympian Hi club to recruit leaders, a major need for Y clubs.
Bay Region expects rain and showers tonight and tomorrow with a low around 46. Sierra Nevada faces heavy snow possible above 3500 feet and rain below tonight, becoming intermittent tomorrow.
Marin's supervisors delayed a two story addition to the San Rafael Coleman school office building as they seek a fuller assessment of space needs. They reviewed sketches with architect Carl Zoellner and explored alternatives including temporary space, relocation, and a downtown four to five story office plan. They directed further study of financing and immediate county department needs before any commitment.
Contracts totaling over $300000 for Strawberry and Taraspais Valley schools were let by Mill Valley district with bids from Kelley and Pelets of San Francisco at 106587 and William Horstmeyer Company at 206362. State approvals and a Sacramento meeting planned before work can begin, weather permitting.
American Sabre jets reported more than 200 Communist jets over northwest Korea with few firing passes before Reds broke off. One Sabre pilot bailed out and was rescued with injuries. Last night Mill Valley police Sgt Ben Hartwell reported sparks from a backyard incinerator ignited a pile of lumber. Firemen responded quickly and, with help from the police, prevented further damage. Fire Chief Leslie Atmager confirmed the blaze was confined to the yard and contained within minutes.

No. 1 2 3 and 5 held in 11 camps. Joint notice warned of possible name errors and that publication signals only a first step toward an exchange.
A double explosion at a Sausalito dump injured two men, one seriously, as dynamite loaded cartons used in a Navy hospital ship demolition project burned. Anthony Cucchi, 78, stayed in fair condition. Eddy Souze, 40, sustained minor injuries. Investigators pled safety measures and potential district attorney review.
The Rev. Edward Allen, principal of Marin Catholic High School, will deliver one of the keynote addresses at the opening of the National Catholic Educational Association annual convention in San Francisco.
