Corte Madera to Begin Postoffice Building Work
Workmen will move equipment into Corte Madera to begin a new modern stucco post office on First Street near the existing building. San Rafael contractor Joseph Fillipo will build at about 30,000 dollars, with 2,200 square feet for the post office and 400 square feet for rental space. Architect Forrest Gist designed a well lit interior with a driveway for mail loading and unloading to prevent traffic disruption. The owner, Slemund M. Kahn of Fairfax, plans to rent the storefront but may use it later for expansion. Ground leveling started and occupancy expected by March 1, 1952 under a 10 year government lease.

Tow Operator Involved in Marin Wreck Two Walks Away
A Fairfax tow truck operator, Albert Obstfelder, 59, was struck by a car while finishing a cleanup at the Garden Gate bridge in Marin. He was hospitalized with a broken right elbow and head injuries. Howard Majewski, 93, of San Francisco, was cited for drunk driving after his vehicle skidded and hit another car head on. Two youths, Armando Richardson, 19, and Edward Greggore, 18, were injured when their car hit a tree near the San Rafael overpass. Richardson suffered a broken leg.
