The Marin Society of Artists opens its Christmas sale at the Marin Art and Garden Center in Ross. Proceeds support the center and upkeep. The sale features inexpensive paintings sculptures crafts and will run today until 10 pm and tomorrow 10 am to 10 pm. The Santa Lucia festival and Swedish Christmas pageant are planned for tomorrow with a green show next Saturday.

Two Marin Boys Wounded in Korea Battles
Two Marin county youths RN Reserve Company C were wounded in Korea, both not seriously hurt. Pvt James Byrne 18 of Mill Valley and Sgt Ivan D Jump 20 of San Rafael were wounded by shrapnel and mortar pieces respectively. Byrne reported he is warm and comfortable in a hospital likely in Japan. Jump, evacuated to Osaka, described two mortar fragments in his back after his unit was encircled by Chinese, and noted his San Rafael High School background.

Rain Lifts Tide Threat as Marin Flooding Eases
Tide rising to seven feet flooded tidelands and low highways in Marin with Corte Madera and Tamalpais Valley affected.
