Friendly court action over Buell Road canal bridge dispute
Whiteside County and Jim Schoenhard face a joint case with plaintiff Tom Davis to preserve the canal for recreation while Montmorency Township proposes a bridge replacement or culvert. A 12 foot culvert or six foot option would reshuffle costs and affect canal use. The case raises federal and state maintenance responsibilities and potential funding.
