In Crow Creek a murder occurred at an Owl Inn where four workers tied to Lawrence Sorensen were killed, while legal matters include a battery case against Thomas Rinehart and St McLenin set for Saturday. Citizens fund a public bull, and merchants Johnson & Ven Aken advertise crockery and secondhand goods.
About 60 Newman residents attended a Friday meeting at Fivehar’a helt to discuss preventing scarlet fever. Supervisor A. The group resolved to reduce diseases and authorize the health officer to act at owner expense when needed.
Professor O Mallay of San Francisco announces a new dancing school opening in Modesto on Friday evening December 5. Ladies and gentlemen classes start at 7 and social dancing from 9 to 12. Children's class on Saturdays from 10 to 12. Enrollment urged, with stock and Christmas purchases at Acemall, and local ads for shoes at Zender's.
This morning the grand jury was selected from jurors summoned in the Superior Court. Judge Minor presided as they retired to consider their proceedings and investigations. W. A.
