Dingley seeks a smaller staff for the office. Hammett, the efficient deputy, will be missed by patrons for affable manner, prompt service, and solid workmanship.
The county building undergoes upheaval as offices relocate and heating pipes ventilators are installed. The vault for the elevator joins the former County Auction room and awaits machinery. Officers are disrupted by workmen, with new furniture expected for several.
A Modesto irrigation district survey reports initial efforts failed to trace the old canal route. Engineer P. Baker produced notes but the line proved impracticable. Engineer Goodwin has started an independent survey near the upper end of the district works.
A missive reports A D Green announcing his mother’s death at Missouri Valley Iowa at 110 o clock. Mrs Seelye, about 40 years old, died from railroad accident complications four years earlier.
