Non-jury cases will be tried by the presiding judge and not preemptively set. No non-jury cases will be tried unless a request for setting is made by September 20. Austin reports a 95 000 acre rise in state game preserves. Turner P F Hubby, game commissioner, announced Thursday. Ike Pryor of San Antonio designated 70 000 acres along the Nueces river for 20 miles in Zavalla county. Mrs G C R Judkins and Mrs Ed Spencer posted 25 000 acres in Schleicher county as state game preserves. Both tracts will be stocked this winter with deer and turkeys.
City expenditures for September totaled 815,006.39, covering current and general expenses per City Controller I A Gil Exgen. Fire department costs reached 42,605.47 including payrolls of 84,159.10 and maintenance 38,416.87. police, water, and street departments accounted for remaining items.
The city council awarded the contract for the new five station building to M Parker & Co Inc for 377000. All bids for electrical heating and plumbing were rejected and the city will re advertise for bids. Labor Bank and Trust Company of Houston has chartered and begun promotion with officers elected and plans to open soon. Crosby residents voted Thursday to incorporate. Of 116 ballots cast, 03 favored incorporation and 5 opposed. Crosby lies in the county's northeast, within a growing community that has seen progress in recent years.

The first poll tax went to S J King member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen. The first exemption went to S C Gilbreath a retired employee of the Southern Pacific Lines.
