A Babson's Reports survey notes increasing youth involvement in politics after the 26th Amendment. In 1971 alone, 1,215,390 under-21 voters registered in 102 U.S. cities, 35 states, raising hopes for elections. With about 25 million voters under 25, youth are pushing into leadership roles and pressuring the old-guard in Congress.
Governor Preston Smith appointed Graham Bruce of Orange to the 128th district judgeship and named B. R. Fuller to head the Texas Department of Community Affairs. William J. Pitstick becomes chair of the governmental operations committee of TACIR, with George Schrader of Dallas chairing TACIR information services. A $1 special delinquent tax fee applies to receipts and certificates issued by county tax assessor collectors for special districts, to be included in state cost items.
