John Brenneisen former Jefferson City businessman died Friday night at his Chicago home after a several day illness. He left Jefferson City 22 years ago after 18 years with Dallmeyer Dry Goods and later worked for Marshall Field’s. He is survived by two brothers and two sisters. Hazelhorst Dies in River Ferry Accident at Mertens Ferry
Anton Hazelhorst of Osage Bend was drowned when the touring car he rode in plunged from a ferry boat into about twelve feet of water at Mertens Ferry noon yesterday. His son Henry escaped, leaping from the front seat and swimming to shore as the boat toppled. The car struck the barrier and rolled into the river. Rescue attempts failed. the body was recovered later, and funeral arrangements were set for Osage Bend Catholic Church. He leaves eight children and several siblings. his wife had died seven years earlier.
