Garland Freed by Writ of Habeas Corpus
R M Garland of Sedalia formerly resident here escaped extradition to Mississippi on an embezzlement charge after Judge Henry J Westhues granted a temporary writ of habeas corpus blocking the Mississippi requisition. He was released on $500 bond as his lawyers Irwin and Bushman argued the Mississippi indictment was invalid and Garland may not have committed the crime in Mississippi. Escape by Insane Convict at Fulton Hospital
O. B. Snow, a Missouri penitentiary convict serving 50 years for murder from Livingston County, escaped Tuesday night from the Fulton state hospital for the insane. He had been moved to Fulton in 1926 after transfer from the state penitentiary in 1922.
