Wheat referendum favors GOP plan. Ellender vows no relief

In a political row over wheat support, the GOP succeeds in pushing a plan that critics say skirts direct payments. Sen. Lightning Strikes Twice for Hitchin Man

John Hudson aged 20 was blown from a telephone booth by a lightning bolt in Hitchin England Tuesday night. Five years earlier he was knocked unconscious by another bolt on his front lawn and remained unresponsive for six hours. A hospital spokesman said Hudson was badly shaken by bolt No 2 and would need a couple of days in bed to recover.

Deaths Rites Set Today For Letcher Rosen

Letcher Rosen 65 of Osage Beach died Tuesday in a hospital. Born March 29, 1898, he was a son of William and Virginia Rosen. He married Marguerita Pounds and survived by two sons Kenneth Rosen and Wilson Rosen among others, plus four grandchildren. Services at a local chapel with burial in Greenmore Memorial Gardens. The obituary notes his widow and several siblings.

Man Found Guilty On Robbery Counts

A U S District Court jury in Jefferson City found Keith Willis Mickizer of Kansas City guilty on three counts linked to post office and bank robberies in Missouri. Two counts resulted in not guilty. two other counts were dismissed. Judge Floyd Gibson ordered a pre sentence investigation and Mickizer remains in U S custody.
