Youth killed by car in Jefferson City strike
A 13 year old Jefferson City youth died after being struck by a vehicle on West High Street. Barbara Forst of 1504 West Main Street told police the boy ran from in front of a bus into her path. He was taken to St Marys Hospital and then to University of Missouri Medical Center in Columbia for emergency treatment after the 3 27 p m accident.

Corpse found in lake near Links Landing
The body of 30 year old Camden County man James Otis Childers was recovered from Lake Ozark near Links Landing after his pickup was found at the water’s edge. A second man, Leroy Hunt of Camdenton, age in his early twenties, remains missing as deputies continue searching the lake. Childers had been missing since April 24 after reportedly failing to navigate the Grand Glaize Bridge entrance on U.S. 54 and plunging down a 70 foot embankment. The body was found when water levels fell and a tire was seen protruding from the surface. it remained inside the pickup when recovered. The exact cause of death is pending.
