A statewide petition drive led by the Citizens Lobby aims to place open public meetings and recorded votes on the November ballot. If successful, all tax supported meetings including state legislative committees city councils school boards and college trustee boards would be open to the public with no proxies and votes recorded.
Vernon Henderson, a Salem man free on 23000 bond, failed to appear for his trial in Phelps County Circuit Court. He allegedly used dynamite to blow up the St James home of his former wife in April 1970, injuring one of her two children. Prosecutor Zane White ordered bond forfeiture and said an order would be issued for his arrest.
The rating aims to inform parents about content suitability for children. It lists all ages admitted and parental guidance suggested. Restricted under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian.
Beverly Shewell 23 of Kansas City held for investigation of child abandonment after she and two children were found wandering in Arizona desert near Winslow.
