Pleasure boats sunk by flood near Cincinnati
Police said at least a dozen small pleasure boats sank early today after being swept into the Ohio River near Yacht-Haven Marina upstream from Cincinnati. About 25 of the 100 boats that broke loose were recovered, with witnesses citing at least one person aboard the drifting boats. The craft were swept loose when three barges mooring them broke shore anchors and drifted toward the city. Boats scattered along a 20 mile stretch and many sank upon hitting piers guarding the six Ohio Kentucky bridges. Darkness hindered securing the bobbing craft.
