Washington June 26 The senate agricultural committee passed the prohibition issue back to the president in the food control bill. It prohibited manufacture of whiskey wine or beer but left to the president the power to permit wine or beer under certain contingencies.
Reports from Madrid today say Spain suspended its constitution and martial law is in effect. The recent revolt has flared again and grown in seriousness.
Columbia Missouri announces the Boone County Fair will not be held in 1917 due to cancellations by Columbia First Mexico Moberly and Marshall. The Missouri Kansas grand circuit loses events and horsemen seek other circuits, creating a two week gap between meetings and few horses available.
The United States ship Olympia flagship of Admiral Dewey ran ashore off Block Island during target practice in heavy fog. Chief Machinist Mate William M. Duff was killed and the crew were landed with no other injuries. The Olympia may be beyond salvage and wreckers will remove munitions and guns.
Washington report says the American Red Cross fund has grown to 114 million dollars based on dividends declared and to be turned over to the Red Cross. Chairman Davison announced the figure from returns received up to late tonight.

The Jefferson City Red Cross plans a statewide Fourth of July picnic at McClung Park with a 200 vehicle parade from five counties. Bands from California Eldon Truscumbia and Jefferson City may perform. Attendance目标 10 000 expected with rest rooms and a Red Cross hospital tent.
