Floating museum set to visit Jefferson City this weekend

The Sergeant Floyd, a floating history museum tied at the sand plant on Bolivar Street, will host free tours Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The U S Army Corps of Engineers outfitted the towboat for a Bicentennial display traveling Inland and Gulf Intracoastal waterways until December 1976.

Missouri to Equip Patrol Cars With Citizens Band Radios

Gov Christopher Bond announced in Branson that all state highway patrol cars will receive citizens band radios by July end. Rains Leave Missouri Soil Moisture Plentiful

Heavy rains left adequate to surplus soil moisture across Missouri with 81 percent of the state rated as adequate, 12 percent surplus, and 7 percent short. Corn was mostly fair to good, 23 percent harvested wheat, and soybean planting 87 percent complete as alfalfa first cut reached 90 percent.

Wood chips oversupplied hit Pacific Northwest mills

Portland AP reports an oversupply of wood chips has led Weyerhaeuser Lumber Co to stop buying them. Estimates indicate 9 to 100 mills in the Pacific Northwest may be affected, with some predicting shutdowns as chip sales, once strong, dulled lumber demand. Prime logs were sometimes chipped when chip sales were high and lumber sales slow.
