Steve Bogler, son of Mr and Mrs S D Bogler of 312 Indian Meadow Dr, has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at the College of the Ozarks in Clarksville Arkansas.
At least seven people were killed in Missouri traffic accidents over the weekend. Victims include three in a one car crash near the Arkansas border in Lafayette County, and others in Monroe Cole Franklin and Gasconade counties. One car collided head on with a speeding driver from Arkansas, while several others were injured or treated.
The Supreme Court ruled that juries cannot act with unlimited authority to deem material obscene. In a unanimous decision, the court found the film Carnal Knowledge not obscene and overturned a Georgia theater operator’s conviction. The decision limits reliance on broad community standards for what is punishable obscene.
Delegates of the Communications Workers of America open their international convention in Kansas City with Mrs. Clara Allen of New Jersey seeking the secretary treasurer post. She faces Louis B. Knecht of Washington, backed by most international officials, as Beirne retires from the role. Allen is the first woman to seek one of the union’s top five offices amid a female majority membership.
A heavy turnout is expected in Camden and southern Morgan counties as residents vote on forming a public hospital district for the Lake of the Ozarks area. Approved plans would fund a 70 bed Camdenton hospital within two years with a 15 cent tax rate. a rejection favors a privately financed facility in Osage Beach.

Cole County Court plans to sign a countywide solid waste plan this week prepared with the Mid MissourI Regional Planning Commission. The plan relies on private enterprise for collection and disposal to align with a new state law requiring counties to adopt such plans by July 1 for state approval.
James Hicks Loretta Baumhoer and Francis Cupp are charged with theft by deceit after an incident at McDonald’s 1425 Missouri Blvd. They allegedly tried to steal $15 from Lisa Solomon by using a counterfeit or altered payment. Police say Baumhoer paid with a $20, Hicks and Cupp later used a $5 bill and claimed a $20, then fled but were caught later by officers. Solomon recently made William Jewell College dean’s list.
Federal funds totaling 2.897 million dollars are available to Missouri rural communities to supplement Farmers Home Administration loans for water and sewer projects. Combined with prior grants and loans, total FY1974 financing reaches 14.902 million dollars. state grants add 3 million. Applications to county FmHA offices or the State FmHA office in Parkade Plaza, Columbia.
A Miller County man 19 identified as Meta man drowned while swimming in the Osage River near the Cole County line. David Graessle 19 body recovered early Sunday. James Nipper 42 of Overland believed drowned near St. Charles while his sons were in a boat incident. Daniel Wade 20 drowned in the Meramec River and a 14-year-old St. Louis youth died in a lake near Eureka Saturday.
Ed Rackers director of the city public works department will present a report on the levee project around Memorial Airport at today's Airport Commission meeting. John Randolph airport manager says the panel will also receive Phase III improvement updates and plans for a fire truck housing building.

Tim Burns age 22 of Gladstone Missouri, missing after leaping from the AS.B. bridge on Saturday, swam ashore and is alive and uninjured. His wife Roberta Burns says he did it for fun and never intended to cause a search. He reportedly jumped about 50 feet into the river after leaving a nearby restaurant.
