Eldon Couple Held on Narcotic Charges
Mr. and Mrs. Guy Nichols of Eldon are held by federal authorities on violating the Harrison Anti Narcotic Act. They were arraigned before U S Commissioner F J Fromme and ordered held for the October term with bonds set at 5000 dollars each. Nichols is charged with mailing a narcotic item to his wife. she was arrested when she claimed the package. Both are well known in Jefferson County.

Raymond Volkmar seven year old son of William Volkmar of Ash street fractured his right leg in two places when his tricycle pedals trapped his foot and he was thrown to the pavement while crossing the street an automobile approached He was taken to a physician and is reported in satisfactory condition The boy’s older brother had a similar leg injury years ago and the family notes a history of related misfortunes

Mrs. Alfred Meffert, a well known Cole County resident, died last night at the county home after a short pneumonia illness. A German-born widow, she was 65 and survived by her husband and a son Charles of San Francisco. Funeral arrangements were not set but likely for Monday.

Wilde in custody after railroad trespass arrest
Cleve Wilde, arrested Thursday by Missouri Pacific detectives for trespassing on railroad property, is held on suspicion of a Montana reformatory escape.
