William Alfred Pitman Jr., about 78, of West Plains, collapsed at the Union Bus Terminal near Monroe and Capitol and died in a police ambulance en route to St Marys hospital. Coroner Dr. J T Leslie ruled natural causes. Pitman, transferring between buses from Columbia to West Plains, was accompanied by grandson James Pitman. The elder Pitman had recently been at the state cancer hospital in Columbia for a check-up.
Stuart B. Allen, 16, from St. Joseph, acquitted by reason of insanity of murder, was admitted to Fulton Hospital. He arrived with Sheriff Gus G Hillix, and Dr. W J Cremer noted the youth is mentally ill and will be treated as other patients. Allen foster son of Rev. James S. Allen, minister of Christ Episcopal Church.
Missouri fishing predictions favored anglers with a better than even chance in most waters this weekend according to the state conservation commission. In Lake Wappapello area mosquito control gates stay closed until today then open over the weekend to vary water levels. Midweek reports from Lake of the Ozarks and Taneycomo show fishermen needn't go home empty handed.

Rep Arnold of Missouri warned that the state department contemplates a broad world wide economic revival plan funded by the United States. He urged any Such program be run on a business basis by proven leaders and noted limited chances of approval without clear recovery goals. He criticized plans to include Russia and satellite states and urged restraint against large outlays while Greece and Turkey faced pressure. He predicted next year would see across the board tax cuts and a community property law. He called for tighter management of small business and added guidance on sales, buying, display, production, bookkeeping, and financing to help firms survive tough times.
