Region Receives Over 10 Million For Public Service Jobs
The U S Department of Labor allocates more than 10 million dollars to Kansas Missouri Iowa and Nebraska for public service employment under the second supplementary appropriation act of 1974. Nebraska totals 1 959 800 with Lincoln and Omaha among allocations. Kansas receives 1 855 800 including Kansas City Kansas Overland Park Topeka Wichita and Johnson County. Woman appointed to clerk's post in Phelps County
Lucy Greig of St James was sworn and named interim circuit clerk and recorder of Phelps County to fill the unexpired term of the late Austin Bell. The 44 year old is the sole Republican candidate for August primary. Governor Bond appointed her to serve after Bell died last week. Bell had served 14 years and said he would not seek re election.

Vandals Strike Ellis Porter Park Again in City Aims

Two youths killed in Missouri road accidents
Two teenagers died in Missouri traffic incidents reported by the state patrol. Bobby Spain 17 of Greenfield collided when his motorcycle was struck by a left turning truck driven by Robert Wilkerson 37 of Urbana on Mo 160 near Lockwood in Dade County. Dale Stanifer 16 of Mansfield was killed when a pickup driven by David Cantrell 21 of Mansfield lost control and rolled on a county road about a mile north of Mansfield in Wright County.

Suspect Charged in burglary at Apache Flats store
Jerry R. Smith, 31, of 2818 Kenborg Hill, was charged Tuesday with burglary in connection with the break in early Monday at House of Bargains in Apache Flats. Smith was caught inside the building by a deputy sheriff and the highway patrol. entrance was gained through the roof, officials said.
