Landowners sue to stop Lake of the Ozarks power line

Landowners and environmental groups have filed a temporary injunction in Kansas City federal court to halt an eight mile electric transmission line crossing the Lake of the Ozarks area. Central Electric Power Cooperative and Co-Mo Electric face suits led by Illinois judge George Moran with the Power Line Defense Fund and local associations. The case was dismissed without prejudice pending Corps of Engineers permit review, with 15 days notice required on any decision.

Bond reinstates tho influenced by decision

Gov. Christopher S Bond reinstated the members of three state boards and commissions Tuesday after a Missouri Supreme Court ruling blocked his firings. The court upheld that state reorganization did not abolish commissions, forcing Danforth to withdraw the opinion underpinning the earlier removals.

Police Probe Jefferson City Confidence Game

Police investigate a reported confidence game in Jefferson City after an anonymous caller said a woman found 30 000 dollars and recruited her for a share. The women described include a white woman with red hair around 25, five foot six, wearing plaid slacks and a sleeveless blouse, and a black woman about 35 in a white uniform.

Missouri field work slows as rain hits some areas

Rain interrupted field operations across Missouri while other districts received little moisture. Soil moisture remains mostly adequate as sorghum planting reaches 82 percent, soybeans at 82 percent, wheat 81 percent colored with 4 percent harvested, alfalfa 86 percent cut, and regional herbicide damage reports surface in northern districts.
