City police investigate thefts valued over 1100 dollars over the weekend. At Mattingly Brothers Store 1803 Missouri Blvd five calculators and six cameras were stolen from an unlocked display case between 5 20 p m and 6 50 p m Saturday. At Immanuel Baptist Church 706 Ohio St desks cabinets were ransacked and an amplifier three microphones a clock a coffee pot and petty cash were taken about 7 20 a m Sunday.

Noland resigns Senate post to lead state program

New industrial arts building discussed for Versailles High

Morgan County R-2 High School at Versailles weighs a future industrial arts addition on the north side of the campus. Superintendent Vincel Allee says it is still in the talking stage with no concrete steps, plans estimate an 11 by 11 foot space and room for 240 students to study metalwork and woodworking.

Groups urged to participate in Jefferson City Fourth of July

Local civic and service groups and individuals are urged to join Jefferson City’s Fourth of July events starting at 4 pm with a walking parade and ending with a river barge fireworks show. Rep. William L. Clay of Missouri is cleared of involvement in illegal drug trafficking after a letter from Deputy Attorney General Harold R. Tyler Jr. says the investigation does not substantiate the charges. The congressman plans action against lawyer Liam Coonan to probe motives in a 1972 drug transaction claim.

Stolen car found stripped Sunday in suburbs

A car owned by Charles E. Cooper of Warrensburg was found stripped of tires radio battery and carburetor in the 1700 block of Southridge Dr Sunday afternoon. The vehicle stolen from the Downtown Holiday Inn garage between Saturday 3:35 p.m. and Sunday 2:25 p.m. with over $600 in missing parts. Police suspect a link to a prior garage theft of a stereo and clothes from John F. Hedin of Willmar Minn.
