Car Driver Fined After Accident

Archie Burns of 1709 Madison Street was fined 25 dollars and given a 0 day stayed jail sentence for careless and reckless driving after an accident in the 300 block of West Main Street. Judge A J Schwaller also ordered a 90 day license suspension. Police report placed the crash at about 10:30 p m Monday, with Burns eastbound causing 550 dollars damage to a parked car owned by John Venincasa of St. Louis. Burns’ car suffered 90 dollars damage. In another Monday incident a one ton truck driven by Leonard Braden of Holt Summit and a car driven by Daniel Jeffery of Highway 60 West collided at the north end of the Missouri River bridge. Jeffery’s car damage was 35 dollars and Braden’s truck 5 dollars. No charges filed. Donald Hollings, 16, of 607 Rear West Milter Street, and Glenn Jewett, 16, of 412 Russell Streets, were fined 2 dollars each for riding motor scooters on the sidewalk in the 300 block of West McCarty Street about midnight Monday.

Suits Filed Against Capital City Firm For Unpaid Furniture

Two suits filed in the circuit clerk’s office seek judgments totaling 970.90 plus interest against Ward Furniture Company. McCoy-Couch Furniture Manufacturing of Benton, Arkansas asks 888.20 plus interest for items delivered Oct 24 to Nov 18, 1949 with no payment. Streetman Novelty Furniture of Lexington, North Carolina seeks 83.70 plus interest for items supplied May 16, 1948 with no payment.

Wallets Found After Missing From St Joseph Home Workmen

Wallets of three workers at St Joseph's Home for the Aged in the 1300 block West Main were found yesterday on an electrical box in the basement. They contained all papers and 349 in checks. 3 in cash remained missing. Frank O Keefe and Robert Young reported the theft after clothing was removed for work.

Friendly Neighbors Club Holds Meeting

The Friendly Neighbors Extension club met at the home of Mrs. A. H. Beckmeyer. Roll call cited a safety rule I practice as Mrs. Fred Hoevelman led a safety program with illustrations. Mrs. Walter Dyst chaired a Dy céntrE discussion with nine members present. Reverend Ralph Lonmis and Mrs. Lonmis from Columbia began a weeklong vacation Bible school at Wilton community school yesterday.

Clarksburg board of education hires C. L. Pearson of Bland to replace Superintendent William H. Bower. Pearson and family will move to the A. L. Brown property soon.
