Voters defeat school tax levy in Kansas City district
Kansas City voters rejected a 1.25 dollar per hundred assessment to raise school taxes while approving a 0.15 increase in the library levy. The school measure failed 29,336 to 24,545, while the library levy passed 28,002 to 24,725. The school plan would have raised funds to 5 dollars per 100 and added 10 million, with library funds shared for school branches.
