Flat Tire Apparently Saves $50,000 Cargo
A stolen truck loaded with liquor valued at 50 000 was abandoned in St Louis apparently because of a flat tire. Driver Robert Eaton notified police he parked the tractor trailer in front of his house and it was missing this morning. A filling station operator reported an abandoned truck at his station later, which proved to be the stolen vehicle with cargo intact. Also reports a prisoner custody return and an escapee at large. B-29 Bomber Crashes In Pacific Ocean
Honolulu dispatch reports a B 29 bomber crashed 73 miles west of Kwajalein in the central Pacific at 2 49 p m Hawaiian time. One survivor was sighted in a life raft as rescue efforts began from Kwajalein island with a Navy Albatross seaplane joining the search.

Tax Offer Reported in Meyers Case for $429000
Bennett E Meyers a former Air Force general with prior perjury and tax fraud sentences reportedly offered the government a 429000 compromise on tax claims. IRS agent in charge Max Weaver said Washington officials were reviewing the offer in two pending cases. one for 216000 personal taxes and one for 213000 business taxes. Meyers previously claimed poverty to dodge a 15080 fine for tax evasion and was linked to a Senate probe about an aviation parts firm with dummy officers doing business with the Air Force.

Four motorists pleaded guilty in magistrate court to traffic violations. Paul Prost 37 of 218 W Filmore St was fined 10 dollars and costs for careless and reckless driving after being clocked at 55 mph in a 40 mph zone on Highway 50.
