Emergency food collection campaigners adopted the slogan Give Cash or Cans. An uptown Red Cross booth will collect canned foods or money today through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday. Officials with American Red Cross and local volunteers will operate at High and Madison. Prizes for contributions were dropped after criticism that funds should go to the campaign. In Callaway Circuit Court Judge W. M. Dinwiddie sentenced Ralph Holden of St. Louis and James Edward Hawkes of New Madrid County to two years each for escaping Missouri State Penitentiary. Holden had seven years left on a 13 year term. Hawkes was serving a two year term. Nelson Allen of Callaway County drew five years for forging checks. Deaths Mrs Cochran 87 Dies Af Barnett
Mrs James Franklin Cochran 87 died at home in Barnett Missouri after a heart attack. Born December 25 1858 near Barnett she was daughter of Simon and Rebecca Ratcliff. She married James Cochran January 27 1881 and was a Presbyterian. Survived by six children Omer E Ab Boone Lilly Kidwell Ada Hedrick Jesse Van Auken. 17 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Four daughters preceded her. Funeral 2 pm Thursday at Barnett Union Church. Burial Hapewell Cemetery.
