Siege Ends at BC Penitentiary After Hostage Revolt

A 41 hour siege at British Columbia Penitentiary ended when 15 hostages rose up and overpowered three inmate captors. One female hostage, Mary Steinhouser, 32, died later from injuries. authorities say stabbing is suspected. Inmates Andy Bruce, Claire Wilson, and Douglas Lucas, all serving life terms, were wounded. Officials noted shots fired as tactical officers entered.

House to buy vote tabulating system and renovate offices

The Missouri House will spend about 335000 for a new electronic voting tabulator and to renovate fourth floor offices. About 180000 of the funds await Gov. Bond approval. Rep. Joe Holt says the current system is buggy and prone to breakdowns, with improvements planned since 1940s installation.

Doctor seeks court order over silver dollar tax payment
