Cmdr. Albert B. McLemore testified before a U S Australian board that a message outlining an operation plan for destroyers aboard Melbourne was not received by USS Evans. He said the message did not order actions and did not affect the collision. Man shot to death after ignoring order

In St Louis AP report, 55 year old David Pruitt was fatally shot after ignoring police orders near a light company pump house. Officers say Pruitt pointed a pellet rifle at them. a probationary patrolman Willie Ealy fired. Pruitt died at City Hall hospital. Local residents reported the incident and ongoing investigation continues. Nearby, theft and vandalism were reported including a stolen air conditioner and eggs thrown on a porch, with window damage and a documented rock thrown through a window.
