Jefferson City mall plan eyed in urban renewal effort
Housing Authority Director Ted Herron travels to St Louis with officials of the U S Department of Housing and Urban Renewal to seek 200000 dollars for a downtown mall on High Street from Monroe to Jefferson. The plan, part of Capitol West Wear’s Creek funding, includes short term shopper parking, underground utilities, canopies and planting. If approved by fiscal year end, mall construction could begin within 18 months with land acquisition for Capitol West starting upon approval.
